With the developing
of the electronic and information technology, our computer is undergoing
its fifth generation, called Intelligent Computer, based on the application
of Artificial Intelligence. Such as the interpration of natural language,
computer vision, robots and etc., all have been broadly applied in computers.
Now many experts reseaching in artificial intelligence deam that the research
and development of sofeware in AI as well as that the hardware platform
of artificial intelligent automatons should use general high-quality parellel
computer is the key point in AI computer research.In order to realize the
artificial intelligent machine, it's not economical and efficient to exploit
tons of man power, materials and money on researching and developing platforms
for special purposes. Generally speaking, the platform constructed by special
chips only can accelorate the machine by 10 times, while general
chips raise its speed 10 times every 3 years. So it's not long, at most
3 years, for general chip platforms to catch up with the special chip one.
It's the point that we should put our most energy in developing artificial
intelligent softwares for general platforms. That's the trend of our age.
